Shucos are the Guatemalan version of the American hot dog.
How to prepare this delight
It is important to highlight that the preparation method is completely different because it involves bread, which in this case will be whole grain, sliced in half.
Next, it is toasted with a little low-fat butter; once toasted, set aside. Meanwhile, prepare a delicious guacamole using only avocado, some fresh basil, and small pieces of onion.
This is mixed until a smooth, homogeneous paste is achieved, then a pinch of salt is added.
With a sausage
You can opt for sausage or preferred protein, but for this occasion, grilled beef will be used, seasoned with your favorite spices, avoiding too much salt.
Once seasoned, cook on a grill until both sides are well-sealed and nicely browned; then remove it from the grill and place in a bowl. Take the toasted bread, spread a layer of guacamole on both inner sides, and add the grilled meat.
You can also add mustard due to its low calorie content. After this, it’s important to note that the dish is missing a touch—it’s known for its moisture from the many sauces it traditionally has.
To complement, add at least two spoonfuls of Greek yogurt, giving a 180-degree twist to the recipe while also adding a delicious tanginess.
And the best part? 100% healthy.
