In beautiful Guatemala, Russian salad is a globally recognized delight. It is a perfect choice to start a meal and pairs wonderfully with bread or toast.
It has its roots in Europe. It arrived in the Central American country thanks to the culinary influence of Russian immigrants.
This salad, which combines potatoes, carrots, peas, and mayonnaise, holds a special meaning in Guatemala's culinary culture.
Guatemalan Russian Salad
Ingredients
2 cups of Diced cooked carrots
2 cups of Diced cooked potatoes
2 cups of Chopped cooked green beans
2 cups of Cooked peas
2 cups of Diced red bell pepper
2 cups of Diced green bell pepper
1 Diced onion
2 tablespoons of Vinegar
2 cups of Mayonnaise
Salt and black pepper
Preparation
Step 1 : In a pot, cook the 2 cups of carrots and green beans with a cup of water until tender.
Step 2 : Once cooked, drain and let cool.
Step 3 : On the other hand, cook the peas in the same way until tender and let cool.
Step 4 : To cook the potatoes, place the 2 cups in a container and let cool.
Step 5 : Then, in a large bowl, combine the carrots, potatoes, green beans, peas, onion, red and green bell peppers.
Step 6 : Add the mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons of vinegar, season with salt and black pepper to taste, and mix well.
