In beautiful Guatemala, Russian salad is a nationally recognized delight. It’s a perfect choice to start a meal and pairs wonderfully with bread or toast.
It has its roots in Europe. It arrived in the Central American country thanks to the culinary influence of Russian immigrants.
This salad, which combines potatoes, carrots, peas, and mayonnaise, has a special meaning in Guatemala’s gastronomic culture.
Guatemalan Russian Salad
Ingredients

2 cups of Cooked carrots cut into cubes
2 cups of Cooked potatoes cut into cubes
2 cups of Cooked and chopped green beans
2 cups of Cooked peas
2 cups of Red bell pepper in cubes
2 cups of Green bell pepper in cubes
1 Chopped onion into cubes
2 tablespoons of Vinegar
2 cups of Mayonnaise
Salt and black pepper
Preparation
Step 1 : In a pot, cook the 2 cups of carrots and green beans with one cup of water until they are tender.
Step 2 : Once cooked, drain and let them cool.
Step 3 : On the other hand, cook the peas in the same way until tender and let them cool.
Step 4 : To cook the potatoes, place the 2 cups in a container and let them cool.
Step 5 : Then, in a large bowl, combine the carrots, potatoes, green beans, peas, onion, red bell pepper, and green bell pepper.
Step 6 : Add mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons of vinegar, season with salt and black pepper to taste, and mix well.
