Prepare it Guatemalan style with this easy and delicious recipe: mix flour, sugar, yeast, milk, orange zest, and butter in a large bowl; add eggs, salt and knead until you get an elastic dough; shape into a ball, decorate with fruits and bake.
Rosca de Reyes
Ingredients
650 grams of Flour
120 grams of Melted butter
100 grams of Sugar
2 Eggs
1 Yolk
100 milliliters of Water
30 milliliters of Milk
Grated lemon peel
Candied fruit
1 Beaten egg
Powdered sugar
20 grams of Yeast
10 grams of Salt
Preparation
Step 1 : To prepare the Guatemalan Rosca, start by adding the flour in a large bowl, leaving a hollow in the center.
Step 2 : Then add the sugar in the center, along with the yeast dissolved in water, milk, orange zest, and melted butter.
Step 3 : Lightly mix until you get a homogeneous dough.
Step 4 : Next, gradually add an egg and a pinch of salt, kneading until the dough is elastic.
Step 5 : Once the dough is ready, shape it into a ball, removing the excess, and you can make decorations with the leftover dough.
Step 6 : Then, place the rosca on a greased tray and let it rest for an hour.
Step 7 : Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 200ºC.
Step 8 : After the resting time, brush the rosca with beaten egg, decorate with fruits and bake for 15 to 20 minutes.
Step 9 : Once the baking is finished, remove the rosca from the oven, let it cool and it will be ready to enjoy this delicious Guatemalan tradition.
