Rompope or Rompopo is a delicious Guatemalan drink made with milk and a touch of liquor, very popular during the Christmas holidays, but also throughout the rest of the year.
It has its roots in the colonial era, when Spanish monks introduced this drink made from eggs, milk, and liquor to the region.
Over the years, it has become a culinary tradition, especially appreciated during the Christmas festivities for its sweet and smooth flavor.
Rompope or Rompopo
Ingredients
1 liter of Milk
250 grams of Sugar
4 Egg yolks
1 pinch of Nutmeg
20 milliliters of Alcohol
Cinnamon
Preparation
Step 1 : Put the milk in a pot and bring to a boil
Step 2 : Blend the egg yolks and set aside
Step 3 : When the milk boils, add the egg yolks, sugar, and spices
Step 4 : Let the mixture cool and strain. After 24 hours, add the rum and it's ready to serve
